Description
AFAR is a nonprofit scientific organization founded in 1984 by pioneering archaeologist Richard “Scotty” MacNeish. MacNeish’s student, University of Hawai‘i archaeologist Barry Rolett has served as AFAR President since 1996. Our mission is to pursue archaeological research through the involvement of local communities and the general public. We currently run field projects in French Polynesia.
